Chinese New Year (part 5)


Delicious!It was New Year's Eve.Around 7pm,we drove to Raffles Country Club for my maternal new year reunion dinner.We reached there at 8pm,1 hour journey,as it was located at Jurong West.Upon entering the restaurant,I greeted my relatives.The restaurant was well decorated with new year ornaments.Everyone were on cloud nine as we chatted for awhile while waiting for the food to be served.My other smaller cousins were engrosed in their gaming gadgets.Soon,the dishes were served.We start with the "Yu Sheng",chinese raw fish salad.It usually consists of strips of raw fish (most commonly salmon), mixed with shredded vegetables and a variety of sauces and condiments, among other ingredients.Yusheng is considered a symbol of abundance, prosperity and vigor.We were all smiles as the food tasted very good.There were a total of 12 dishes served and everyone were very full after the meal.My uncles then sang a few chinese songs using the karaoke player in the room.Everyone partied together to count down for the new year.After quite a long wait,it was down to the last few seconds:10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1!Happy New Year!Everyone exchanged wishes with one another.We then headed back home since it was very late.A new year,new begining.I hope that everyone would have a fruitful and fun 2010!
