Rainbow! (Part 3)

What is a rainbow?A rainbow is an optical and meteorological phenomenon that causes a spectrum of light to appear in the sky when the Sun shines onto droplets of moisture in the Earth's atmosphere. They take the form of a multicoloured arc, with red on the outer part of the arch and violet on the inner section of the arch.A rainbow spans a continuous spectrum of colours. The most commonly cited and remembered sequence, in English, is Newton's sevenfold red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet . Rainbows can be caused by other forms of water than rain, including mist, spray, and dew.It was the weekends as we decided to go to Bukit Timah Hill for a hike. After taking a light breakfast,we drove to the Bukit Timah Hill and after 20 minutes,we arrived in the carpark of the place. We alighted as soon as my father parked his car.Soon we were on our way,up to the peak of the hill. The morning sun was shining bright as we slowly walked up the rocky granite path of the hill.Admiring the beautiful trees and vast species of insects,I breathed in a huge breath of fresh refreshing air.It was certainly a place for nature lovers.Soon,we reached the peak of the hill at 164m.Suddenly,the sky started to darken and heavy rain poured.Everyone ran helter-skelter for the nearest shelter, some unlucky ones were drenched from head to toe as they could not find a shelter in time.Luckily, there were a few shelter nearby and we managed to get into it before it started to pour. The rain lasted for quite awhile. When it stopped,a rainbow formed, bringing joy to everyone in the Nature Reserve, especially to the small children who were jubilant after seeing the phenomenon rainbow appearing infront of them.Upon seeing it,I whiped out my camera from my bag and took some photos of this spectacular scene. We then went back home after the rainbow disappeared. What an unusual phenomenon!I hope to see more rainbows in the future!
